Dr. Hao Zou is a Vice President and Portfolio Manager at Pacific Investment Management Company (PIMCO), focusing on global bonds, currencies, futures, and interest rate derivatives portfolio management. He is the current Secretary and Treasurer of the Marconi Society. He also serves as a technology advisor to information and communications technology startups in California and President of Stanford Business School Alumni Association in Orange County.
He received his PhD in Electrical Engineering, MBA, and MA in Economics degrees from Stanford University in 2011 and completed the degrees in three years’ time. He has represented Stanford University in North American and international telecommunication standards committees, contributing to the development of next-generation telecommunication standards that enabled faster and more reliable access networks for hundreds of millions of users. His research expertise encompasses dynamic resource allocation, optimization, information transmission, and their applications in communication networks, financial markets, and other interdisciplinary areas.
Dr. Zou received his undergraduate degree from Stanford in 2008. He was a Stanford Graduate Fellow and one of ten recipients of Stanford University's Deans' Award for Academic Accomplishment in 2008.
He is a Fellow of the Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society and former President of Tau Beta Pi’s Stanford Chapter. He received the inaugural Marconi Society Paul Baran Young Scholar Award in 2008.
